I’m a
competent speaker on various topics and have presented at numerous events and venues
of all sizes, including Wellington County
Museum, PROBUS, Bruce County Historical Society, and the Ontario Numismatic
Association. I most recently presented two topics at the Ontario
Genealogical Society Annual Conference at Brock University in May 2014.
Some of my genealogy speaking engagments include: Dating and identifying your old photos through fashion; Beginning your genealogy search; Military Genealogy; Census Records; BMD Records; The Tombstone, understanding cemetery symbolism and history; Born at Sea, Child at Sea; Border Crossing Documents- Migration and Vacation Records; and Salem Witch Trials- my personal connection.
I also teach an Ancesty.com workshop to help people maximize their time with the website. I am available to come into libraries and teach staff how to address the growing popularity of genealogy in their community.
My strengths in the medieval field are: Early Celtic/Medieval art; The Picts of Scotland; The medieval coin system; 8-11th Century Church history; The Viking invasion of Britain. I am, however, available to speak on any 5-15th Century topic or genealogical topic that you require.
